Founded in 1818, this stunning destination was originally known as Mauch Chunk before being renamed in honor of legendary athlete Jim Thorpe. Today, the town combines the charm of a quaint European village with sweeping mountain views and endless outdoor adventures.
While Jim Thorpe is a delight year-round, its fall foliage is truly spectacular.
Well begin our visit with a scenic train ridean ideal opportunity to relax and admire the dazzling golden leaves. The route winds through Lehigh Gorge Scenic Park along the river, offering plenty of oooohs and ahhhhs. The ride lasts approximately 45 minutes.
After the ride, youll be dropped off near the center of the village for lunch, free time, and the chance to enjoy the Jim Thorpe Fall Foliage Festival.
This annual celebration transforms the town into a lively autumn wonderland filled with live music, craft vendors, food stalls, and seasonal activities. Youll have the rest of the day to explore at your own pacebrowse shops, enjoy local cuisine, or simply take in the scenery. Visits to attractions such as the Asa Packer Mansion can be added at an additional cost; please inquire for details.
