Washington DC & Virgina College Tour

George Washington University, American University, George Mason University

Did you know that visiting a college is termed “demonstrated interest” by schools and is one of the admissions criteria used to determine an applicant’s acceptance? In fact, “demonstrated interest” is one piece of the admissions puzzle that can give a student up to a 40% chance of being admitted over other applicants.

The college admissions process is a tricky one to navigate. Give yourself the best opportunity to succeed by joining us on this two-day trip to Virginia & Washington DC, where we’ll visit the campus of George Washington University, American University and George Mason University.

In addition to this incredible experience, A-1 Tours offers an EXCLUSIVE partnership with University Seekers. University Seekers is a college preparatory service led by a local college admissions expert. With their guidance they market your personal profile to your dream schools. They stay in touch with the admissions departments to ensure your application is highlighted, giving you a leg up on the competition.

Day 1:

We’ll depart in the morning for Washington DC, all guests will get a lunch box and to consume as we are getting closer to the capital. Our first college visit will be to George Washington University. Established in the early 1820s by the United States Congress this research university offers degree programs in over 70 disciplines.  There will be an information session about the offerings and the admission process followed by a campus walk. Potential students and parents will get a chance to ask all questions putting them in the best possible situation when choosing a school.

From here we head slightly north in the city for our next campus tour which will be at American University. Located in a beautiful residential part of our nation’s capital Washington DC. American University is home of eight prestigious schools and colleges with over 170 programs including bachelor’s, master’s and doctoral degrees. Again, guests will do the information session along as well as a campus walk getting a real feel for how life on campus and in DC may be. Upon conclusion of the visit to American University we are done with the hard work – for today at least… In the late afternoon we will enjoy a dinner together and as dusk set in, we’ll embark on an evening tour of the National Mall. The tour will teach us about past presidents and significant leaders politically and historically. We’ll see the monuments   beautifully lit and there will be opportunities to get some cool pictures to share with family, friends, and of course on social media. After the tour, we’ll check into the hotel for the night.

Day 2:

After breakfast, we will head for George Mason University located in Fairfax Virginia. Virginia’s largest public research university. George Mason’s Fairfax Campus has a stunning campus with over 40 residential halls housing over 6000 students. We will do an information session following the campus walk.

After the tour, we will head for the beautiful historic Alexandria where we visit Tall Ship Providence. This floating museum is docked in the old town Alexandria; VA. Tall Ship Providence was the first warship authorized by the Continental Congress for the Continental Navy. The group will learn history and take a step back into the life of a 1776’s sailor. You will explore the ship including the main deck, the quarterdeck and the hold. The tour highlights some of the Navy’s most proud and historical moments. We’ll enjoy lunch together followed by an afternoon at the National Mall where you will get a chance to visit some of your favorite Smithsonian Institutions before boarding the coach for a smooth comfortable ride back home.
